It’s obvious to me, judging by the state of dress of several of the boys (including me) that this was prior to Bro Cyril taking over as headmaster. There is not question that his eagle eye would have run across the assembly and weeded out those he considered inappropriate. Later he had a particular loathing of having one’s hair brushed forward in an attempt at a ‘Beatles’ type styling as I can attest myself…

Bus Guy – very distinctive appearance, I once saw him fall off the bus entering Piccadilly. He ended up badly cut and my heart went out to him for the humiliation at the time.

Phillips – as far as I am aware, the only pupil originating from India. He was called some pretty foul racist terms, as was the sadly accepted norm at the time.
