Martin Hannett

  1. This is, of course, the late Martin Hannett of Factory Records fame. I can state that he was always obsessed with music and roped Fred Wilson (guitar) and myself (vocals, harmonica) for a practice session as some god forsaken church hall in Miles Platting. As Fred was electrocuted from Martin’s dodgy amp setup, needless to say, we never carried on further with Martin’s ambitions…

    • The church hall that’s the Joynson Memorial…Martin called it the Arts Lab. Always driven by a vision…nothing was ever as it appears. I guess you need that to keep going. Dorothy Gosling related the story of a cherubic Martin aged 10 arriving at her door to invite her to come listen to his Charlie Parker records!
